Jan Kavookjian

motivational interviewing health coach instructor Jan Kavookjian, MBA, Ph.D.Dr. Kavookjian has a behavior sciences focus in outcomes research, with fifteen years of experience in an adult learning theory basis for motivational interviewing (MI) training for providers across health professions, and teaches advanced MI electives (PharmD and graduate programs). She was co-founder of the Auburn University Motivational Interviewing Training Institute (2007) and has trained over 2,000 providers. Her research includes outcomes from provider intervention for disease management/prevention, particularly using MI in diabetes and other chronic conditions; target outcomes included medication adherence and other behaviors, quality of life, patient satisfaction, and clinical indicators. She was recently invited by the CDC/NDEP to lead a panel of MI experts in a webinar for MI in diabetes care, was selected to conduct the AADE ‘Being Active’ systematic review, served on the AADE Research Committee, wrote the MI book chapter for ACCP, and gave three featured MI training programs for APhA Foundation Advanced Practice Institutes for Diabetes.
